The Challenge

Flexport, a SoftBank-backed logistics platform, needed a scalable, unified icon system to support their expanding digital ecosystem. With dozens of features and product lines across freight, customs, finance, and fulfillment, consistency and clarity were critical.

My Role

As the lead brand designer on this project, I was responsible for ideating, illustrating, and refining the custom icon library from the ground up. I collaborated closely with the product marketing and brand teams to ensure alignment.

Process

Audited existing product UI and marketing materials to identify inconsistencies and redundancies.
Established a modular grid system and color treatment to unify icons across use cases.
Designed 100+ icons covering product features, operations, geographies, and logistics workflows.
Created a secondary set of regional office logos to foster internal team pride and localization.
Iterated based on feedback from global teams and engineering to ensure legibility at all sizes.

Outcome

Launched a flexible icon system now used across Flexport’s platform, marketing, and sales materials.
Increased visual cohesion across departments, reducing duplicated design work.
Regional icon series helped improve employee engagement and pride in local offices.
The system continues to scale with new product offerings and was featured in Flexport’s internal brand guidelines.
