The Challenge

Flexport, a global freight forwarding company, needed a series of engaging explainer videos to simplify complex logistics products and services. From financing solutions to container load matching, these offerings weren’t easily understood by non-technical audiences — but were critical to user adoption.

My Role

I led motion design and illustration on three key explainer projects, each with unique creative requirements:

Flexport Capital – Fully animated in Adobe After Effects using custom illustrations
OceanMatch – A hybrid video using stock footage with motion overlays and typography
Flexport Overview – A brand awareness video combining footage, motion design, and kinetic type

I collaborated with internal marketing producers and scriptwriters to storyboard and develop the visual narrative for each.

Process

Developed a minimalist, flat illustration style for consistency with Flexport’s brand guidelines
Storyboarded each scene to ensure technical accuracy and visual pacing
Used Adobe After Effects with layered vector art and character animation
For hybrid pieces, sourced high-quality stock footage and added animated overlays, transitions, and infographics
Ensured all exports met Flexport’s specifications for YouTube, social, and internal sales use

Outcome

Flexport Capital explainer helped onboard customers to a brand-new financial service — used by sales teams and featured in product launch press
OceanMatch video played at major logistics conferences and increased feature adoption among Flexport clients
Brand explainer helped unify messaging for stakeholders and prospects, boosting clarity around Flexport’s platform

All three pieces are still live and in use across Flexport’s YouTube channel, customer onboarding journeys, and marketing campaigns.
